ESR has signed an agreement to acquire 100 per cent of Aquila Clean Energy APAC from Aquila Group. Aquila Clean Energy APAC develops, owns and operates solar, battery storage and wind projects across Asia-Pacific. The platform has a 1.6 GW portfolio of operational, under-construction and advanced-development assets across Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan. The transaction is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2027, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
In August 2026, Aquila Clean Energy APAC signed a 20-year corporate power purchase agreement with Sustainable Energy Solution and Silicon Products Group for a 26.3 MWp solar photovoltaic-fishery project in Tainan city, Taiwan. The project, currently under construction, is expected to begin commercial operations in 2027. The project will generate over 32 GWh of electricity annually while offsetting approximately 14,900 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
In January 2026, Aquila Clean Energy APAC and Far North Solar Farm (FNSF) concluded their New Zealand solar joint venture. Aquila Clean Energy will take full ownership of five projects, including the operational 20.8 MWp Pukenui solar farm and the 38.7 MWp Omeheu solar farm under construction while FNSF will retain several solar projects under development in Greytown, the Mackenzie Basin and other parts of New Zealand’s South Island.
