Maruti Suzuki India Limited has commissioned a 300 kW green hydrogen electrolyser plant as a pilot project at its Manesar facility in Haryana. The green hydrogen produced at the plant is blended with natural gas and utilised as process fuel in the company’s manufacturing operations.
Furthermore, the plant helps maximise the utilisation of solar energy generated at the Manesar facility by using surplus solar power produced during holidays to generate green hydrogen, which is stored for subsequent use in manufacturing operations. The company will use the learnings from the pilot project to expand green hydrogen adoption across its manufacturing facilities in Haryana and Gujarat.
In June 2026, Maruti Suzuki announced that it will develop a 10 tonnes per day biogas plant at its Kharkhoda facility in Haryana. The plant is scheduled to be commissioned in the financial year 2026–27 and is expected to mitigate around 9,490 tonnes of carbon emissions while meeting approximately 20 per cent of the facility’s total gas requirements.
