RWE has signed a virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with Oracle for 433 MW of electricity from its Panther Creek I, II and III wind farms in West Texas. The projects, located across Sterling, Howard and Glasscock counties, form part of Oracle’s broader portfolio of over 1.7 GW of power investments in Texas.
Furthermore, Panther Creek I and II projects were repowered in 2019, while Panther Creek III wind farm was repowered in 2021. The projects are expected to generate more than $70 million in property tax revenues for the region over their lifetime. According to Oracle, the agreement will contribute to its goal of matching 100 per cent of its AI data centre electricity use with carbon-free electricity by 2035.
In August 2026, RWE signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Google. The agreement covers the entire output of RWE’s 155 MWac Crooked Creek solar project located in McCurtain county, Oklahoma. Project construction is expected to commence later in 2026, with commercial operations expected in 2028.
