CQP receives approval for 360 MW Australian wind project

Central Queensland Power (CQP) has received approval for the Moah Creek wind project from the Australian Government under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act 1999. The project, located about 30 km west of Rockhampton, will comprise up to 60 wind turbines with a capacity of 360 MW. The project will also provide more than $33 million in community benefits over its operating life.

In August 2026, WestWind Energy received planning approval for the Normanville Energy Park. The park will consist of a 122 MW wind power facility and will feature up to 17 wind turbines. The project is located in Victoria’s North West Renewable Energy Zone, Australia. The project will generate enough electricity to power around 90,000 Victorian homes. Furthermore, project construction is expected to attract approximately $350 million in investment.

In July 2026, RWE received federal environmental approval for its 1.1 GW Theodore wind farm. The project is located in Central Queensland, Australia. The project secured State Development Approval in June 2025 and was awarded the Capacity Investment Scheme contract under Tender 7 in May 2026. The project, valued at A$3 billion, will comprise up to 170 wind turbines and a battery energy storage system.
