Georgia Power has received approval from the Georgia Public Service Commission (PSC) for 1,137 MW of new solar power purchase agreements (PPAs) under the Clean and Renewable Energy Subscription (CARES) 2023 and CARES 2025 request for proposals (RFP) programmes. The CARES programme enables eligible customers to purchase subscriptions linked to their pro-rata share of renewable energy production.
Furthermore, the procurement includes projects with 78 MW capacity in Appling county, 130 MW in Decatur county, 194 MW in Jefferson county, 200 MW in Sumter county, 150 MW in Warren county, 185 MW in Emanuel county and 200 MW in Irwin county. The projects are expected to commence commercial operations as early as 2029. This procurement follows the approval of 1,068 MW under the CARES 2023 programme in September 2025.
In May 2026, Grenergy entered into a 20-year PPA with Georgia Power in the US for the supply of renewable energy and associated renewable attributes under the CARES 2023 programme. The agreement covers the entire output from the Beaver Creek hybrid project, which is estimated to generate approximately 400 GWh of energy annually.
