CrossBoundary Energy commenced operations of its solar and battery energy storage system (BESS) project for Kamoa Copper South Africa. The project comprises a 233 MWp solar photovoltaic array and a 123 MVA/526 MWh BESS. The project will supply 30 MW of baseload power to the Kamoa Copper mining complex in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Furthermore, Kamoa Copper signed the power purchase agreement for the project with CrossBoundary Energy in April 2025.
In April 2026, Inspired Evolution committed $40 million to CrossBoundary Energy to support the construction and expansion of its renewable energy portfolio. The funding will support major hybrid solar-plus-BESS projects, including the Kamoa-Kakula facility in the DRC and the Baomahun mine project in Sierra Leone. Cygnum Capital acted as financial advisor and fundraising partner for the transaction.
In November 2025, CrossBoundary Energy secured $200 million in additional senior debt to support its renewable portfolio across Africa. This marked the close of the second tranche of its portfolio financing facility arranged by the Standard Bank of South Africa Limited (SBSA), following the initial tranche completed in December 2024. The project financing was led by SBSA.
