Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL) has commissioned a 100 MW group captive solar project at Vellalankottai and Nalandhula villages in Kayathar, Tamil Nadu. The project will supply power to TP Solar (40.625 MW), Tata Electronics (53.125 MW), and Tata Realty Infrastructure Limited (6.25 MW). The project is expected to generate 240.63 million units of electricity annually and offset around 150,000 tonnes of carbon emissions each year.
Furthermore, the project uses flexible terrain-compatible single-axis tracker technology. It is equipped with 261,660 Mono PERC bifacial solar modules and will transmit the generated power through the Kayathar 400 kV grid substation. With this commissioning, the company’s utility portfolio has increased to 12.3 GW, while its operational capacity has crossed 7 GW. The operational portfolio comprises more than 5.7 GW of solar and 1.3 GW of wind capacity.
Earlier this month, TPREL commissioned a 72.5 MW captive solar project at Kalasar in Bikaner, Rajasthan, for Tata Steel Limited. The project was developed through TP Vardhman Surya Limited, a subsidiary of TPREL.
