Eveready Industries India has partnered with Zepto to launch a doorstep collection and recycling programme for used household batteries. The programme aims to simplify disposal by allowing consumers to return used household batteries during regular doorstep deliveries.
Under the ‘Batteries for Better’ initiative, Zepto users will be able to select a “Return Battery” option at checkout and hand over their used batteries to delivery partners when their order arrives. This aims to make battery disposal easier for households by linking it with regular doorstep deliveries.
Furthermore, the collected batteries will be sent to Eveready for recycling and disposal through authorised channels in line with applicable environmental regulations and extended producer responsibility guidelines. The programme will initially be rolled out in Delhi and Bengaluru, using Zepto’s last-mile delivery network for collection. Eveready and Zepto plan to gradually expand the initiative to other cities across India.
