Sungrow has started construction of a battery energy storage system (BESS) manufacturing facility in Egypt with an annual production capacity of 10 GWh. The facility is valued at $50 million and is being developed in the China-Egypt TEDA Suez Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone in Ain Sokhna. The facility is expected to commence production in April 2027.
Furthermore, the facility will cover around 50,000 square metres area and will assemble storage products for Egypt’s both domestic market as well as export markets. Additionally, locally manufactured storage equipment from the facility is expected to support Scatec’s Energy Valley project, which includes 1.95 GW of solar capacity and 3.9 GWh of battery storage.
In August 2026, Sungrow partnered with GOLDBECK SoLAR on a utility-scale solar project in Poland, alongside an agreement for a BESS pipeline. The solar framework spans Dobrowo, Kikowo and Sidlowo, Poland. The solar project has an installed capacity of 722 MWp while the BESS pipeline is of 1 GWh capacity. Sungrow will supply 1+X utility inverters and medium-voltage solutions for the project.
