OIL Green Energy Limited (OGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Oil India Limited (OIL), has signed MoUs with the municipalities of Gurugram, Faridabad, Hisar and Ambala in Haryana to develop integrated Compressed Biogas (CBG) and Waste-to-Energy projects across the respective clusters. The proposed projects will be developed in the Hisar (500 TPD), Ambala (900 TPD), Faridabad (1,600 TPD) and Gurugram (2,000 TPD) clusters. Collectively, the facilities will be capable of scientifically processing 5,000 tonnes of municipal solid waste per day and are expected to generate 70-75 TPD of CBG and 50 MW of green power.
Furthermore, the projects will follow an integrated waste processing and resource-recovery approach, wherein MSW will undergo scientific pre-processing and segregation to maximise resource recovery. Recyclable material will be recovered, while the wet and biodegradable fraction will be used to produce CBG and the non-recyclable dry fraction will be utilised for electricity generation through WtE facilities. The initiative aims to support scientific and sustainable MSW management while expanding clean energy production in the state.
In June 2026, OIL and the Petroleum Technology Research Centre, Canada, signed a collaboration framework to jointly work on clean energy and sustainability initiatives. The collaboration will focus on carbon capture, utilisation and storage, including the permanent storage of captured carbon dioxide through geological sequestration and mineralisation.
