Quinbrook has selected GE Vernova to supply technology for the third stage of the Supernode battery storage energy system (BESS) project in Queensland, Australia. GE Vernova will provide the power conversion, control and integration technologies for the third stage of the project. The project’s third stage will add 260 MW/1,216 MWh of four-hour BESS capacity.
Furthermore, with the addition of the third stage, the project will have a cumulative capacity of 780 MW/3,075 MWh. The first two stages of the project are fully operational and already use GE Vernova technology, while the project’s third stage has achieved generator performance standards (GPS) acceptance.
In July 2026, First Hydro Company, a joint venture between ENGIE and La Caisse, selected GE Vernova to modernise the Dinorwig pumped storage hydropower project in North Wales, UK. GE Vernova will replace two 315 MW pumped storage units as part of First Hydro’s long-term replanting programme. The project has been in operation for more than 40 years.
