Adani Energy Solutions Limited (AESL) has secured a transmission project to evacuate renewable energy generated in Karnataka to major load centres in Maharashtra. The project, involving an estimated capital expenditure of around Rs 47 billion, will also support pumped storage potential of up to 4,500 MW near Satara and cater to the growing pumped storage ecosystem across Satara, Pune and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region. AESL won the project through the tariff based competitive bidding process, with the project housed under Satara Power Transmission Limited and scheduled for completion within 36 months.
The project will add 562 ckm of transmission lines and 9,000 MVA of transformation capacity to AESL’s network. Furthermore, it includes the establishment of a 765/400 kV substation at Satara, the Kolhapur-Satara 765 kV double-circuit transmission line, and augmentation of the Kolhapur pooling station along with associated transmission infrastructure.
In April 2026, AESL’s subsidiary, Adani Electricity Mumbai Infrastructure Limited, commissioned a 1,000 MW high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission link between Kudus and Aarey to facilitate the integration of more renewable power into Mumbai. The project comprises a 30 km overhead line and a 50 km underground corridor designed for Mumbai’s densely built urban environment, along with a compact HVDC substation.
