Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has signed an MoU with Japan’s Yamanashi Prefecture to expand cooperation in the green hydrogen sector. The agreement will focus on collaboration in green hydrogen, renewable energy and clean technologies, including technology development, capacity building and investment opportunities.
Under the MoU, the two sides will explore cooperation in green hydrogen production, technology development, research, technical training and industry collaboration. The partnership is also expected to create opportunities for Japanese companies to participate in renewable energy and green hydrogen projects in Uttar Pradesh. It builds on the earlier cooperation between Uttar Pradesh and Japan’s Yamaguchi Prefecture, which began with an agreement on green hydrogen technologies in December 2024.
Earlier, in December 2025, the Uttar Pradesh government granted in-principle approval of Rs 1 billion to establish two Centres of Excellence (CoE) under the Uttar Pradesh Green Hydrogen Policy 2024.
