Tata Power has invited bids for the procurement of power from a 50 MW/100 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) for a period of 15 years under tariff-based competitive bidding. The power will be procured for ‘on-demand usage’ in accordance with the terms of the battery energy storage purchase agreement (BESPA). The deadline for bid submission is September 15, 2026.
According to the tender guidelines, the scope of work includes setting up the BESS with complete operation and maintenance and supplying electricity from the 50 MW/100 MWh BESS project for a period of 15 years to maintain a supply of minimum 95 per cent availability on a monthly basis. The project shall commence the power supply from 12 months of the date of the signing of BESPA.
Additionally, the selected bidder will be allowed to schedule power from an existing 150 MW solar plant to meet Tata Power’s dispatch requirements on a day-ahead/intra-day basis. The bidders are required to submit an earnest money deposit of Rs 100,000 per MW.
Earlier, in July 2026, Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited, a subsidiary of Tata Power, conducted the groundbreaking ceremony for its 800 MW renewable energy project in Andhra Pradesh.
