FinDev Canada and DEG invest in Argentina clean energy sector

FinDev Canada and DEG have committed to MSU Green Energy’s $530 million green bond issuance in Argentina. MSU Green Energy platform focuses on hydro, solar, and energy storage projects. The companies will provide $50 million each to the bond issuance. The investment forms part of a $130 million tap issuance of bonds originally issued in June 2026.

Furthermore, the transaction increases the total green bond issuance from $400 million to $530 million. The financing will support the installation of 182 MW of solar capacity and 150 MW of battery energy storage, alongside the continued operation of around 1.7 GW of renewable capacity.

In April 2026, FinDev Canada provided a $30 million loan to GEAR PEO. The financing will support the 185.6 MW Olavarría wind project and transmission infrastructure expansion in Argentina. The investment is part of a $140 million financing facility led by IFC. The project is expected to avoid approximately 35,000 tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions annually.
