Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) has announced the results of its Phase IX tender for 450 MW/900 MWh of standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity in Gujarat. NLC India Renewables Limited secured a capacity of 275 MW at a tariff of Rs 231,989 per MW per month. Sun Drops Energia Limited secured 175 MW at a tariff of Rs 231,990 per MW per month.
The projects will be developed on a build-own-operate basis and will provide on-demand energy storage services to GUVNL. The standalone BESS projects will be connected to the state grid and will support charging and discharging requirements during peak and off-peak periods. The systems will be required to complete two full charge-discharge cycles per day. GUVNL will sign battery energy storage purchase agreements with the successful bidders, with the projects eligible for viability gap funding under the power system development fund scheme.
Earlier, in July 2026, GUVNL announced the winners of its auction to procure power from 250 MW of grid-connected wind power projects (Phase XI). NLC India Renewables secured 100 MW, while Juniper Green Energy and Powerica won 50 MW each. The three companies secured their respective capacities at a tariff of Rs 3.51 per kWh.
