Richa Varshney has over 15 years of experience across project execution, procurement, contracts management, supply chain, logistics, operations and project management. She has also spent around seven years in the US, gaining exposure to global engineering and project management practices. Varshney holds a master’s degree in construction management from Texas A&M University, and a bachelor’s degree in architecture, and is a certified project management professional from the Project Management Institute. She has previously worked at Gentari Green Mobility (Petronas Group), Nuevosol Energy, Refex Energy, Azure Power, Unirac, Inc. (Hilti Group) and Mustang Engineering.
Joining Tembo Global Industries marks a new phase in her career. “What excites me most is the opportunity to build and scale a renewable energy business backed by Tembo’s strong engineering and manufacturing expertise,” she says. As India accelerates its clean energy transition, she believes the company is well positioned to deliver sustainable solutions, foster strategic partnerships, and create long-term value for customers and stakeholders.
According to her, India’s clean energy transition presents significant opportunities for engineering-led companies to support utility-scale renewable projects through technical expertise, efficient execution and innovation. However, she identifies land acquisition, regulatory approvals, grid connectivity and supply chain constraints as some of the sector’s challenges. She believes overcoming these requires careful planning, effective stakeholder coordination and a strong focus on quality, timely execution and sustainability. Varshney believes successful project delivery depends on resilient supply chains, strategic procurement and disciplined project management. She also gives equal importance to quality assurance and close coordination among developers, engineering, procurement and construction partners, suppliers and government agencies.
Her leadership philosophy is built on collaboration, accountability and continuous learning. She encourages open communication, empowers teams to take ownership, and also promotes data-driven decision-making as well as long-term value creation. “Execution and innovation go hand in hand, which is why I focus on building cross-functional alignment and maintaining strong governance,” she says. Outside of work, Varshney enjoys spending time with her family, reading about emerging technologies and global renewable energy trends, and travelling. She believes continuous learning helps her stay inspired and brings fresh ideas and a balanced outlook to both her professional and personal life.
