ENGIE has achieved financial closure for its 250 MW Khaba solar project in Barmer, Rajasthan. The project is being developed through ENGIE’s wholly owned subsidiary, Khaba Renewable Energy Private Limited. The project is expected to generate around 650 GWh of clean electricity annually while avoiding nearly 180 kilotonnes of carbon dioxide emissions each year once commissioned.
Furthermore, the project has secured financing from leading global financial institutions, supporting its next phase of development. Construction of the project is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2026.
In March 2026, ENGIE India signed a power purchase agreement with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited for its 280 MW/560 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Gujarat. The project was awarded under GUVNL’s viability gap funding tender for 2,000 MW/4,000 MWh standalone BESS (Phase VII) at a tariff of Rs 187,000 per MW per month.
