GreenH Electrolysis, a joint venture between H2B2 Electrolysis Technologies and Castlegreen Energy, has supplied a proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer India’s first indigenous hydrogen-powered train. The 1 MW electrolyzer is being used for hydrogen production and refuelling station that serves the train operating on the Sonipat–Jind section.
The technology is manufactured at the company’s facility in Jhajjar, Haryana, and it can produce 420 kg of green hydrogen per day. The facility itself features 3,000 kg of hydrogen storage, hydrogen compressors, and hydrogen dispensers. This contract to retrofit a diesel electric multiple unit (DEMU) train had been awarded by Indian Railways to Medha Servo Drives Ltd, which in turn selected GreenH Electrolysis for the EPC of the hydrogen production and refuelling station.
