MNRE extends ALMM List-II exemption for net-metering and open access projects till December 31, 2026

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has provided a limited exemption for net-metering and open-access renewable energy projects. Under the exemption, these projects can be commissioned without using Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-II compliant solar photovoltaic (PV) cells until December 31, 2026. The limited exemption has been introduced to ensure a smooth transition to ALMM List-II for net-metering projects and open access renewable power projects.

Earlier, this exemption was available only until May 31, 2026. Projects commissioned after December 31, 2026 will be required to comply with the ALMM List-II requirements for solar PV cells. Furthermore, MNRE will not provide a blanket extension for implementing the ALMM List-II for solar PV cells. The ministry also clarified that there will be no blanket extension of ALMM List-II beyond June 1, 2026.

Earlier, in June 2026, MNRE issued guidelines for quantifying greenhouse gas emissions from offsite water drawal and treatment under the Green Hydrogen Certification Scheme of India. The guidelines aimed to support compliance with the Green Hydrogen Standard for India and align emission accounting practices with ISO 19870:2023 for green hydrogen certification.
