Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), part of BlackRock, has agreed to acquire a majority and controlling stake in Summit Ridge Energy in US. Summit Ridge Energy, founded in 2017, develops, owns, and operates solar and energy storage projects across the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, and New England.The transaction remains subject to customary regulatory approvals and closing conditions.
In December 2025, Apex Clean Energy sold a distributed solar portfolio totaling 20 MWac to Summit Ridge Energy. The portfolio comprises Bandyville, Rooks Creek, Swamp Fox, and Cherry Grove solar projects, all located in Illinois, US. The projects are expected to begin commercial operations by the end of 2026.
In October 2025, Crux closed a $244 million tax equity investment in Summit Ridge Energy’s solar portfolio in Illinois, US. The investment supports approximately 200 MW of community solar and commercial & industrial (C&I) solar projects. The transaction uses a Crux-managed hybrid partnership flip to optimise the monetisation of Summit Ridge’s federal investment tax credits using transferability.
