Waaree Energy Storage Solutions Private Limited (Waaree ESS), a subsidiary of Waaree Energies Limited, has commenced operations at its battery energy storage system (BESS) container manufacturing facility. The facility has a manufacturing capacity of 5.15 GWh, up from the originally planned 3.5 GWh, achieved through production throughput debottlenecking and improvements in battery cell energy density.
Furthermore, the facility is equipped with Industry 4.0 technologies, automated guided vehicles, intelligent material handling systems, automated assembly lines, and advanced testing and quality assurance systems. It is designed for utility-scale and commercial and industrial applications.
In January 2026, Waaree ESS secured Rs 10.03 billion in funding from a group of strategic investors. The funding will be used to establish a 20 GWh advanced lithium-ion cell and battery pack manufacturing facility dedicated to utility-scale energy storage, electric mobility solutions, and distributed energy applications.
