NHPC Limited and Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) have inked a power purchase agreement (PPA). Under the agreement, NHPC will supply power to TSECL from its 1,720 MW Kamala hydroelectric project in Arunachal Pradesh. The power will be supplied for a period of 40 years from the commercial operation date of the project. The agreement aims to supply hydroelectric power to the state of Tripura.
Earlier, in July 2026, NHPC Limited awarded 1,200 MW of grid-connected solar projects at the Jalaun solar park in Uttar Pradesh. Coal India Limited secured 600 MW (300 MW x 2) from Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited (BSUL), a joint venture of NHPC Limited and Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA). NLC India Renewables (NIRL) Limited was awarded 600 MW.
In June 2026, NHPC Limited and Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited signed a PPA for the supply of electricity from NHPC’s 260 MW Dulhasti Stage-II hydroelectric project located in the Kishtwar district of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Under the agreement, UPPCL will purchase power from the project for 40 years from its commercial operation date.
