REC signs Rs 150 billion agreements for power and renewable projects in Tripura 

REC Limited has inked two MoUs with the Government of Tripura to support renewable energy and power sector projects totaling Rs 150 billion. The first  MoU has been signed with the Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency (TREDA), through the Department of Power, Government of Tripura, to support renewable energy projects worth up to Rs 50 billion. 

Furthermore, the second MoU has been signed with the Department of Power, Government of Tripura, through Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited, to facilitate power sector projects worth up to Rs 100 billion. The agreements aim to accelerate clean energy adoption, strengthen power infrastructure and promote sustainable development. 

Under the renewable energy MoU, TREDA will facilitate the implementation of renewable energy projects, while REC Limited will provide financial assistance to support investments in the sector. Furthermore, the power sector MoU will enable financing for key infrastructure projects aimed at expanding and modernising Tripura’s power infrastructure. 

In February 2026, REC Limited, through its wholly owned subsidiary REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited, issued a tender for the development of an interstate transmission system (ISTS). The ISTS will enable the evacuation of 6 GW of solar power from the Barmer-II pooling substation in Rajasthan.
