Vikram Solar commissions solar module manufacturing facility in Tamil Nadu

Vikram Solar has commissioned its new solar module manufacturing facility at Gangaikondan in Tamil Nadu. The first modules manufactured at the facility are the company’s Hypersol N-Type TOPCon G12R modules, with a rated power of 615 Wp to 640 Wp and module efficiency of up to 23.69 per cent.

Furthermore, the new facility is equipped with automated and digital manufacturing systems designed to improve production efficiency and quality. It features real-time production monitoring, automated quality checks, complete traceability of every module, automated defect inspection, and automated handling during key manufacturing stages. The plant also uses smart systems to grade, sort, and package modules based on their performance.  The greenfield facility is expected to create employment for more than 1,500 skilled professionals.

Vikram Solar plans to establish 9 GW solar cell manufacturing capacity by FY27, expand it by another 3 GW by FY28, and add 12 GW of wafer and ingot manufacturing capacity by FY29-30.
