ACME Group and IHI Corporation’s green ammonia joint venture (JV) project has received certification under Japan’s price gap support programme for their 405,000 tonnes per annum (TPA) green ammonia project in Gopalpur, Odisha. The certification was granted by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism under the Hydrogen Society Promotion Act.
The project has been selected under Japan’s clean hydrogen Contract for Difference (CfD) subsidy programme, which will provide price support for 228,000 TPA over a 25-year period from September 2030. Furthermore, 177,000 TPA of the project’s capacity has been earmarked under Japan’s Long-Term Decarbonised Power Source Auction (LTDA), and the project is expected to be commissioned by July 2030.
Separately, ACME Group is developing an 800,000 TPA green ammonia project at Paradip, Odisha, scheduled for commissioning by 2029. The company has signed a green ammonia purchase agreement with the Solar Energy Corporation of India for 370,000 TPA, while an additional 83,000 TPA has been awarded under Japan’s LTDA programme for supplies to Japan.
