KKR to acquire EDF’s US and Canada portfolio

EDF has signed an agreement under which KKR has agreed to acquire the US and Canadian operations and assets of EDF power solutions. The agreement is subject to regulatory approvals and employee consultation procedures. The agreement also grants EDF power solutions the option to sell these assets under the agreed terms. As of March 2026, EDF operates a renewable energy portfolio with a total net installed capacity of 5.6 GW across US and Canada.

In June 2026, Saulteau First Nations and EDF power solutions North America signed a 30-year electricity purchase agreement (EPA) with BC Hydro for the Taylor South Wind Project. The project, located in British Columbia (BC), has an installed capacity of 200.6 MW. The project is expected to begin supplying enough clean electricity to power around 60,000 homes by 2032.

In June 2026, EDF Power Solutions North America signed a 30-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with the Southern California Public Power Authority for the Utah Solar 1 Energy project in California. The project will deliver power to the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power from a 300 MWac solar facility in Millard County, Utah. Commercial operations for the project are expected to commence in mid-2027.
