SunAsia Energy partners with VinEnergo for 422 MWp Philippine floating solar projects

SunAsia Energy Inc. and VinEnergo have partnered to develop a 422-MWp solar on Water portfolio across Pampanga and Negros Occidental, Philippines. The portfolio comprises three floating solar projects representing an estimated investment of $406 million. The projects are targeted for commercial operation between 2027 and 2028. Once operational, the projects are expected to generate clean electricity to power more than 278,000 homes annually.

Furthermore, the projects will help offset around 460,888 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. The projects will deploy Solar on Stilts technology, enabling aquaculture and fishpond operations to continue beneath the elevated solar installations. Over the next 18 months, both the companies will advance engineering and development activities, including the installation of nearly 700,000 solar panels and approximately 62 km of new transmission lines.

In June 2026, Levanta Renewables achieved financial close and issued the notice to proceed for the Barotac solar and BESS project located in the Visayas, Philippines. The project comprises a 166 MWp ground-mounted solar PV facility along with an 80 MWh BESS. The project was awarded a power purchase agreement under the Philippines’ Green Energy Auction Program Round 4. The project is expected to commence commercial operations by mid-2027.
