TruAlt Bioenergy Limited has secured approval for financial assistance of Rs 1.5 billion under the PM JI-VAN Yojana for its proposed sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) project. The approval was granted by the Centre for High Technology under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. The financial support is expected to cover around 7 to 10 per cent of the project’s capital expenditure and improve its overall viability.
Furthermore, the proposed SAF facility will have a planned production capacity of 100 million litres per year. The project is expected to support the development of a domestic sustainable aviation fuel industry, reduce dependence on imported fossil fuels, and contribute to the growth of a low-carbon aviation sector in the country.
The PM JI-VAN Yojana aims to support the commercialisation of advanced biofuels by promoting the use of renewable feedstocks and agricultural residue. The facility is aligned with the global aviation sector’s decarbonisation roadmap under the Carbon Offsetting and Reduction Scheme for International Aviation as well as India’s announced SAF blending targets of 1 per cent by 2027, 2 per cent by 2028, and 5 per cent by 2030.
