Spray Engineering Devices Limited has received approval for financial assistance of Rs 1.5 billion under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas’ PM JI-VAN Yojana through the Centre for High Technology. The support will be used for setting up a 91 kilo litres per day hybrid second-generation ethanol biorefinery at Wave Sugar in Dhanaura, Uttar Pradesh.
The project will convert agricultural residues into ethanol using a combination of biomass gasification and gas fermentation technologies. Under the proposed process, agricultural waste will first be converted into syngas through biomass gasification, which will then be processed through gas fermentation to produce ethanol. The project is being developed with technology support from LanzaTech and Ankur Scientific Energy Technologies Private Limited.
