Ignitis Group secures EIB financing for 313.7 MW wind farm in Lithuania

Ignitis group has secured a €150 million loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB) to support the financing of the Kelmė Wind Farm. The wind farm has a combined installed capacity of 313.7 MW and is located in Lithuania. The project reached commercial operations in June 2025. With this, the total investment in the Kelmė Wind Farm, including acquisition and construction costs, is expected to reach up to €550 million.

In April 2026, the EIB approved €10 billion in financing, including €2 billion for clean energy initiatives in Europe. The funding will support offshore wind in Germany, solar projects in Italy, and renewable adoption by businesses in Austria. It also includes investments in energy efficiency for heating systems in Latvia and grid upgrades in the Netherlands.

In April 2026, the EIB and Societe Generale entered into a €153 million financing agreement to fund the 137 MW Sand Solar project in Sicily, Italy. The facility being developed by Peridot Solar is expected to generate 256 GWh of renewable electricity annually, sufficient to power approximately 100,000 households.
