Oil India Limited and the Petroleum Technology Research Centre (PTRC), Canada, have signed a collaboration framework to work together on clean energy and sustainability initiatives. Under the collaboration, the two organisations will work on carbon capture, utilisation, and storage, including the permanent storage of captured carbon dioxide through geological sequestration and mineralisation.
The framework also covers the identification of geothermal energy projects, joint research on subsurface energy production and storage, and the exploration of business opportunities in both countries through their respective networks and partners. In addition, OIL and PTRC will collaborate with mc2+, a startup platform established under the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Government of India, to support research and innovation in clean energy technologies.
Furthermore, the partnership aims to strengthen cooperation between India and Canada in areas related to energy transition and environmental sustainability. Moreover, they will also explore innovative enhanced oil recovery methods that can help reduce the environmental impact and energy use associated with oil and gas production.
