NGEL floats EPC tender for 3,200 MWh BESS in Rajasthan  

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has invited bids for engineering procurement and construction (EPC) package for the development of 3,200 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project at the NTPC REL Fatehgarh solar plant. The project will be developed across three blocks, comprising two 300 MW/1,200 MWh BESS blocks and one 200 MW/800 MWh BESS block. 

According to the tender guidelines, the scope of work includes the design, engineering, supply, packing and forwarding, transportation, unloading, storage, installation, testing, commissioning, and integration of a grid-connected BESS on turnkey basis. Additionally, it includes unloading and supervision of erection, testing, commissioning and integration of the above equipment  with the balance of system infrastructure to commission a complete BESS integrated with solar plants. The battery life should be 25 years from the date of commissioning, and rated at a minimum of 10,000 operational cycles. 

The bidder will also provide comprehensive operation and maintenance of the BESS for a period of 15 years, including associated warranties and an annual maintenance contract. They shall also guarantee a minimum of 92 per cent of dispatchable capacity at the point of interconnection throughout the entire 15 year period, starting with 100 per cent of the rated dispatchable capacity at the commercial operation date, maintaining 95 per cent during the first year, and ensuring that the dispatchable capacity at the time of handover is not less than 92 per cent.
