NGEL floats EPC tender for 800 MW/3,200 MWh BESS in Gujarat 

NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has invited bids for engineering procurement and construction (EPC) package for the development of 800 MW/3,200 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project at the NTPC REL Khavda park.

According to the tender guidelines, the scope of work includes the design, engineering, supply, packing and forwarding, transportation, unloading, storage, installation, testing, commissioning, and integration of a grid-connected BESS on turnkey basis with solar plants and power evacuation infrastructure, along with balance of system facilities to deliver a complete operational energy storage solution. The bidder will also be responsible for carrying out all civil works, erection, installation, and commissioning activities for the supplied equipment and systems, as well as conducting grid compliance studies for the entire project covering solar, BESS, and power evacuation systems. Design life of the batteries should be at least 25 years, with the batteries rated for minimum 10,000 operation cycles.

In April 2026, NGEL commenced commercial operations of the seventh part capacity of 90 MW from its 1,200 MW Khavda-II solar project in Gujarat.
