The Cabinet of Jordan has approved an investment between the Ministry of Energy and Jordan Green Ammonia (JGA) for a green hydrogen and ammonia production project in Aqaba, Jordan. The project is being developed by Hynfra in partnership with Fidelity Group. The facility is expected to produce approximately 100,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually.
The project represents an investment of $1 billion. The project will include 550 MW of solar capacity with 500 MWh of energy storage system operating in an off-grid configuration. Financial close for the project is expected in 2027 while commercial operations are expected to commence in 2030.
In September 2025, Hynfra inked an agreement with the Government of Mauritania for the development of a green ammonia project in Nouakchott. The project is planned to produce 100,000 tonnes of green ammonia annually starting in 2030. The total capital expenditure for the project is expected to be $1.5 billion.
