Graphic Packaging Holding signs VPPA for 250 MW solar project in Texas

Graphic Packaging Holding Company has signed a virtual power agreement (VPPA) with NextEra Energy Resources for the 250 MW Selenite Springs Energy solar project in West Texas. The project is expected to begin operations by the end of 2027. Graphic Packaging will be the sole buyer of renewable energy certificates, covering around 43 per cent of its US and Canada electricity use.
Furthermore, the agreement supports the company’s goal to cut Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 50.4 per cent by 2032. The project is also expected to raise Graphic Packaging’s total renewable electricity share to around 49 per cent globally. The agreement builds on Graphic Packaging’s previous VPPAs in Spain comprising three solar plants which will meet 70 per cent of the company’s European energy demand.

In February 2026, Equinix entered into a 15-year virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) with ENEOS Renewable Energy Corporation to source renewable electricity from the Sanda Mega solar power plant in Japan.  The project is located in Hyogo Prefecture, with the agreement covering 121 MW of solar capacity. The solar project is expected to support the company’s target of powering its data centres in Japan with 100 per cent renewable energy.
