ReNew Energy Global Plc has announced plans to establish a 6.5 GW solar ingot-wafer manufacturing facility in Anakapalli district near Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh. The project involves an investment of Rs 42 billion. It is expected to be commissioned within 24 months.
The project forms part of ReNew’s larger investment commitment of approximately Rs 820 billion in Andhra Pradesh, as outlined through MoUs to support the state’s clean energy and manufacturing landscape. It will support backward integration of ReNew’s solar module and cell manufacturing by producing ingots and wafers, which are key upstream components in the solar value chain. This is expected to contribute to localisation of the supply chain and reduce reliance on imports.
In March 2026, ReNew Energy Global Plc announced that ReNew Green Energy Solutions Private Limited secured an equity investment of $95 million to expand its commercial and industrial platform. The investment was led by LeapFrog Investments, with a commitment of $50 million, with the remaining funding contributed by Emerging Market Climate Action Fund and Carlyle AlpInvest.
