Amazon Australia has signed nine power purchase agreements (PPAs) to add 430 MW of clean energy to the grid across New South Wales and Victoria. The projects will increase Amazon’s total renewable capacity in Australia to nearly 1 GW (990 MW) once operational. The portfolio includes: one wind farm, three utility-scale solar and battery hybrids, four distributed solar-battery projects, and a new battery installation at the Mokoan Solar Farm. This investment builds on Amazon’s AU $20 billion plan to expand its data centre infrastructure in Australia by 2029.
The projects in New South Wales include the Muswellbrook solar farm with battery storage (OX2), the Forest Glen solar farm with battery storage (X-ELIO), and the Stanbridge solar farm with battery storage (Anza). The projects in Victoria include the Golden Plains 2 wind farm (TagEnergy), the Laceby solar farm with battery storage (Anza), the Indigo solar farm with battery storage (Anza), the Barnawartha solar farm with battery storage (Anza), the Mooroopna solar farm with battery storage (Anza), and the Mokoan battery storage installation at the Amazon-enabled solar farm (European Energy).
In February 2026, RWE and Amazon entered into a PPA for 110 MW of offshore wind capacity from the Nordseecluster B project in Germany. The PPA builds on a strategic framework agreement signed in June 2025, under which RWE supports Amazon’s carbon-free energy objectives, while Amazon Web Services provides cloud services, artificial intelligence, and data analytics for RWE’s digital transformation.
