Neerav Nanavaty is chief executive officer (CEO) of BluPine Energy and brings over two decades of global experience in the energy sector across North America and India. BluPine Energy currently operates 39 renewable energy sites with approximately 1.6 GW of operational capacity, with an additional 1.2 GW under construction.
Over the course of his career, he has worked across power generation, gas infrastructure and energy services, with leadership roles spanning strategy, business development, operations, asset management, and mergers and acquisitions.
Prior to joining BluPine Energy in 2021 as founding CEO of the Actis-backed platform, Nanavaty held senior leadership roles with ENGIE in India and North America, leading multi-billion-dollar portfolios and managing large-scale thermal and renewable businesses across diverse markets.
What excites him most about his role is the scale of opportunity in India’s renewable energy sector. As the country accelerates its transition towards cleaner sources of energy, building reliable, efficient and sustainable infrastructure will be critical to meeting growing demand while supporting long-term climate goals. “Delivering renewable infrastructure at scale requires navigating complex execution realities,” he says, pointing to land aggregation, regulatory approvals, supply chain coordination and rigorous safety management.
“BluPine addresses these challenges through strong governance, safety and responsible growth. The company also works closely with local communities through corporate social responsibility initiatives focused on empowering rural youth and building long-term capabilities around project locations,” he says.
As a leader, he emphasises clarity in communication, fairness in decision-making and building organisations where people feel empowered and aligned. His leadership philosophy is rooted in the “three Ps”: patience, persistence and precise execution.
Outside of work, he maintains a strong focus on personal discipline and well-being. He is a fitness enthusiast and triathlete, currently training for endurance events such as half-Ironman races. “The principles of consistency and resilience from sports often translate into leadership and long-term organisational success,” he says.
Looking ahead, his focus remains on strengthening BluPine Energy as a trusted renewable platform that contributes meaningfully to India’s clean energy transition.
Nanavaty is an Electronics Engineering graduate from NIT Karnataka and has an MBA in Finance and Strategy from Duke University.
