GAIL (India) to develop a 600 MW solar project in Uttar Pradesh

GAIL (India) Limited has secured approval from its Board of Directors for the development of a 600 MW greenfield solar project in Uttar Pradesh. The solar project will be integrated with a 550 MWh co-located battery energy storage system in Uttar Pradesh. The cost of the project is around Rs 32.94 billion. It will be financed through a mix of debt and equity.

Furthermore, the proposed capacity will be added within 15 months from the award of the engineering, procurement, and construction contract. The company currently has around 29 MW of installed solar capacity.

Earlier in March 2026, GAIL (India) Limited will invest Rs 17.36 billion to establish a wind power project in Maharashtra.

Furthermore, earlier in August 2025, GAIL issued an engineering, procurement, and construction tender to set up a 17.5 MWac grid-connected floating solar photovoltaic plant.
