Topsoe and Hynfra join forces for green ammonia project in Jordan

Topsoe has entered into a front-end engineering and design (FEED) agreement with Hynfra P.S.A. (Hynfra) to develop a green ammonia project in the port of Aqaba, Jordan. Under the agreement, the facility will use Topsoe’s ModuLite™ platform to convert green hydrogen into ammonia. The project is a joint venture between Hynfra and Fidelity Group.

Moreover, Hynfra plans to export the green ammonia to international fertiliser markets. Additionally, Topsoe’s ammonia synthesis technology will avoid over 200,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. The project is expected to reach a final investment decision by 2027, and is expected to commence operations in 2030.

In November 2025, Topsoe inaugurated a solid oxide electrolyser cell manufacturing facility in Herning, Denmark. The facility, spanning 23,000 square metres, will produce high-efficiency electrolysis stacks for industrial-scale green hydrogen production, which can be converted into ammonia and methanol. It has an initial annual production capacity of 500 MW, with provisions for future expansion.
