Boralex Inc. and SNGRDC commission 300 MW/1,200 MWh Hagersville BESS in Canada

Boralex Inc. and Six Nations of the Grand River Development Corporation (SNGRDC) have announced the commercial commissioning of the 300 MW/1,200 MWh  Hagersville battery energy storage park in Ontario, Canada. Borea and A6N General Partnerships, majority-owned by SNGRDC in partnership with Aecon, conducted construction and civil work activities at the site. 

The project deployed 334 Tesla Megapack 2XL lithium-ion battery units. Additionally, it involved participation from local Six Nations workers. Following the commissioning of the Hagersville BESS and the recently launched Sanjgon BESS project, Boralex’s operational storage portfolio has reached 380 MW/1,520 MWh. 

SNGRDC’s total installed storage capacity now stands at 550 MW/2,200 MWh, with four projects under development. This consists of projects being developed in partnership with Boralex, including the 125 MW/500 MWh Oxford project.
