Lightsource bp has announced the sale of its Australian solar portfolio to Aula Energy. The transaction covers five operational solar projects with a combined capacity of 1,037 MWdc. The assets included in the portfolio are the Wellington, Wellington North, West Wyalong, Woolooga, and Wunghnu projects.
The projects are located across New South Wales, Queensland, and Victoria. Collectively, they generate approximately 2,230 GWh of energy annually. This output is equivalent to supplying electricity to more than 380,000 households. Additionally, the portfolio avoids an estimated 1.6 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
In September 2025, Lightsource bp commenced the delivery of a 49 MW/562 MWh DC-coupled BESS integrated with its 585 MWdc Goulburn River solar farm in New South Wales. The BESS is supported by a long-term energy service agreement under the New South Wales Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap, while the solar project receives backing from the Commonwealth’s Capacity Investment Scheme.
