Ashutosh Singh: Senior Vice President and Head – O&M, and Project Director, ACME Solar

Ashutosh Singh is an engineer with more than a decade of experience in utility-scale renewable energy operations, specialising in end-to-end project execution, operations and maintenance (O&M) and asset management across solar and energy storage portfolios. At ACME Solar, he heads O&M for the entire operational renewable portfolio, and also serves as project director, responsible for executing a 1 GW solar and 1.1 GWh battery storage pipeline.

“The most exciting aspect of my role is the opportunity to operate assets that directly enable India’s energy transition at scale,” says Singh. Executing large solar and battery energy storage system projects enables him to apply operational learnings while ensuring asset reliability across the project life cycle.

Further, he identifies land acquisition, grid readiness, execution coordination and long-term asset performance as the key challenges in renewable projects. “At ACME Solar, these are addressed through strong project governance, early-stage risk identification, standardised engineering, real-time monitoring systems and disciplined O&M processes. The focus is on building plants that deliver reliable performance over a 25-year operating horizon,” he shares.

His leadership style emphasises ownership-driven teams, clear accountability and data-driven decision-making. Operations are governed by structured review mechanisms, with safety and quality treated as non-negotiable priorities. He promotes strong cross-functional collaboration between engineering, procurement, construction and O&M teams, ensuring that they perceive themselves as asset owners rather than mere executors.

Outside of work, Singh spends time with his family and maintains a consistent fitness regimen that includes long-distance running. “Running helps me maintain discipline, mental clarity and endurance, and has also shaped my approach to leadership and project execution,” he says. He also reads widely on leadership, technology and global energy trends, and enjoys travelling to nature-rich destinations to maintain perspective and a work-life balance.

Looking ahead, his priorities for ACME centre on scaling the renewable and energy storage portfolio while ensuring world-class asset performance, reliability and returns. As India advances towards its net zero target, he believes large-scale solar, storage and grid-integrated solutions will be essential. Under his leadership and with his team’s collective efforts, he hopes to transform ACME Solar’s operating platform into one of the country’s most trusted, high-performance renewable portfolios.
