Uttarakhand Jal Vidyut Nigam Limited (UJVNL) has issued two tenders for the development of standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS), each with a capacity of 15 MW/37.5 MWh, in the Udham Singh Nagar and Dehradun districts of Uttarakhand. The cost of each project is estimated to be Rs 854.5 million.
According to the tender guidelines, the BESS must be designed to connect to the nearest 33/11 kV substation of UJVNL at the 33 kV level. Bidders for the BESS must be original equipment manufacturers of containerised BESS and should hold an Indian manufacturing licence agreement with manufacturers that have cumulatively supplied at least 100 MWh of BESS capacity. Additionally, bidders must have at least one reference project with a minimum capacity of 15 MWh that has been successfully commissioned. The ceiling tariff for projects is proposed to be Rs 396,747 per MW per month by UJVNL.
Furthermore, bidders are required to submit an earnest money deposit of Rs 7.5 million. Successful bidders are required to submit a performance bank guarantee of Rs 18.75 million. A battery energy storage agreement will be inked between UJVNL and successful bidders within 30 days of issuance of the letter of acceptance and will be valid for 12 years from the commercial operation date. The bid submission deadline is February 25, 2026.
