NTPC Vidyut Vyapar Nigam (NVVN), a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has announced the result of its 250 MW/500 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS) auction. Shreyas Sortex Industries emerged as the successful bidder, securing the project at a tariff of Rs 181,000 per MW per month. The scope of work includes the installation of the BESS at the 220 kV Brahmapuram substation in Kochi, Kerala. The project will be interconnected at the 220 kV voltage level within the jurisdiction of the Kerala State Electricity Board.
Furthermore, the project will receive viability gap funding at a rate of Rs 1.8 million per MWh. This support will amount to Rs 900 million for the total project capacity. The auction also saw participation from other companies, namely OPG Power Generation, Oriana Power, DB Power BESS Storage, NTPC Green Energy, and Powergrid Corporation of India. The tender was floated earlier in October 2025.
Earlier in December 2025, NVVN floated a tender to select developers for developing a 125 MW/500 MWh standalone BESS in Chhattisgarh.
