Punjab State Power Corporation Limited, a distribution company (discom) of Punjab, has floated a tender for the development of 500 MW/1,000 MWh standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS).
According to the tender guidelines, the scope of work includes establishing the 250 MW/500 MWh BESS at each of the Ablowal and Laltonkalan substations. The stored power will be made available to the buying entity for charging and discharging on a demand basis. The scope further covers connecting the BESS with the state transmission utility at the 220 kV level. The selected bidders are required to cover the operations and maintenance expenditure of the BESS.
Additionally, the bidders are required to furnish an earnest money deposit of Rs 471,000 per MW. The bidders are also required to submit a performance bank guarantee of Rs 1.17 million per MW. The bid submission deadline is February 13, 2026.
