Nextpower and Abunayyan form JV in Saudi Arabia

Nextpower and Abunayyan Holding have completed the incorporation of their joint venture (JV), Nextpower Arabia, headquartered in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The JV has been established to support the deployment of utility-scale solar power projects across the Middle East and North Africa region. Additionally, the partners have announced plans for a new advanced manufacturing facility in Jeddah that will supply solar tracking systems, yield management solutions, and control technologies for large-scale solar installations in the region.

The manufacturing facility is being developed on a 42,000 square metre site and is currently under construction. It is expected to become operational in the second quarter of calendar year 2026. Once commissioned, the facility is projected to support manufacturing and local supply chain capacity of up to 12 GW per year.  Furthermore, Nextpower and Abunayyan Holding plan to fund the JV with approximately  $88 million through a combination of equity and public and private debt over the next two years. This capital is intended to support the construction of the manufacturing facility and the expansion of technical and engineering operations. 

Nextpower currently has more than 150 GW of solar tracking systems either operational or under fulfilment across over 45 countries, including more than 6 GW across the Middle East and Africa. Their projects in Saudi Arabia comprise of Sakaka Solar Park, Al Kahfah, Tabarjal, Sudair, and Phase V of the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park.
