Blue Elephant Energy acquires 381 MW wind portfolio in Germany

Blue Elephant Energy has acquired an onshore wind energy portfolio with a total nominal capacity of 381 MW in the German state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. The portfolio was purchased from WIND-projekt and includes 37 operational wind farms with a cumulative installed capacity of 260 MW. Additionally, the portfolio includes four wind farms totalling 46 MW that are currently under construction and are scheduled to be commissioned in 2026, as well as three more wind farms with a combined capacity of 75 MW will be transferred to Blue Elephant Energy at the start of construction, with commissioning planned for 2027.

Furthermore, the transaction is expected to be completed in the first quarter of 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals, including clearance from the German Federal Cartel Office. The acquired wind portfolio is expected to generate enough electricity annually to supply around 33,000 households. Additionally, the wind assets are located in established wind regions and operate under a stable remuneration framework provided by Germany’s Renewable Energy Sources Act, with further scope for repowering over the long term.

With this transaction, Blue Elephant Energy will increase its installed wind capacity in Germany to 533 MW, representing a more than threefold expansion of its domestic wind portfolio. Moreover, with the completion of this transaction the company’s total renewable energy portfolio will rise to 2.1 GW. Wind energy accounts for around 25 per cent of the overall portfolio, highlighting its growing role within the company’s asset mix.
