Trina Storage launches utility-scale storage system

Trina Storage has launched a utility-scale energy storage system (ESS), Elementa 3. The system is designed to address the evolving requirements of global grid and renewable integration projects by incorporating a more adaptable architecture, advanced safety features and extended life cycle value. It uses Trina Storage’s in-house 587 Ah high-capacity cell, thereby raising single-container capacity to 6.25 MWh. Furthermore, the compact design of the system reportedly boosts site-level energy density by 24.7 per cent.

The system incorporates multilayer safety protection across the cell, pack and container levels. Safety features of the system include early-warning detection, high-sensitivity monitoring, gas-based fire suppression, optimised cell materials and a fire-resistant enclosure that provides up to two hours of cabin protection. Additionally, the ESS is certified with UL ΔT ≤ 2.5 °C and has the ability to operate reliably under extreme environmental conditions.
